Smiles on dials in remote Qld indigenous community
Collaboration between the Anembo, Civilscapes landscape contractors and local artist and community leader, Tanya Major, led to a hugely successful outcome for the Kowanyama people.
The playgrounds and gardens integrated Kowanyama peoples stories, symbols and legends into the landscapes.
Big smiles for all the kids!
Designed for and delivered to one of Australis’s most remote places!
Music Building Narangba State School
Lead Architect Elevation Architects produced a simple building with two generous round stepped courtyards providing an inspirational footprint for us to work with.
The playful and generous curvilinear performance pockets placed on the path axis was the inspiration for exploring landscape meaning. Like musical notes the Double Bass has generous curves upon curves around an axial plane.
Both the flower and the shape of the Queensland bottle tree are generous and curvilinear around a tall axial trunk.
Robust, long lived and loved by generations the Brachychiton Populneus Jerilderie Red is now the signature tree in this place of magical and sometimes not so magical music!
