Community Pro Bono

Helping our Youth in Crisis

Planning & Building a Safe Refuge with Industry Colleagues

Bill Hoyer House, purpose designed and built Gold Coast Homeless Youth Crisis Refuge was a joy to be involved with. From concept to completion Anembo provided expert knowledge and advice to complete this vital Community project.

Opened by the Housing Minister the Crisis Refuge immediately began housing young people and encouraging them to reach their full potential by providing quality services in a safe and supportive environment.

The garden design caters to diverse personalities by balancing quiet, safe havens with vibrant, active zones. While secluded nooks provide space for the contemplation and respectful dialogue essential for mental health, larger areas encourage social interaction and open conversation.

Bill was pretty happy at the opening!

Action Plan to Avert Disaster

Answering the Community Call and Making Waves!

As Treasurer and part of the Executive Leadership Team for the Pumicestone Passage Catchment Management Body, Tim has been part of a hugely successful campaign to have the issues understood by the public and Government.

The Campaign focussed on educating the community and its leaders on the facts and science behind the Bribie Island Breakthroughs.

From a position of criticism and non engagement from its bureaucracy, the Sunshine Coast Council has undertaken a 180 degree turn with the Mayor and CEO now public endorsing the PPCMB position.

The State government went into the election in 2024 public endorsing the PPCMB position and committing 35.6 million to establish the Sunshine Coast waterways Authority.

Since the election and after dodging a Billion dollar Cyclone Alfred disaster the State Government has started an inquiry that is purposed with protecting the community from future flooding by establishing the barrier island and creating a safe ocean access.

By April 2025 the PPCMB had grown to 300+ members, the FB page has 2,000 followers,2.8 million public views!

Extraordinary success but more work to be done!

Reconciliation in Action

Walking the Walk on First Nations Engagement

anembo is a generic aboriginal word for ‘Peaceful Place’ and its context with landscape is reflected in the fusion of symbol of aboriginal ‘Place’ and the symbol for ‘Tree’ as the company logo.

We were one of the first micro businesses in Australia to have a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) endorsed by Reconciliation Australia. Locally we have built strong personal and professional relationships with the Kabi Kabi Aboriginal Peoples Corporation on whose land our HQ sits.

Our work across Queensland involves collaboration with many First Nations groups, including the Kabi Kabi, Jinibara, Butchulla, Kowanyama, and Bidjara peoples. While some of these projects are funded, much of our work is pro bono; we always go the extra mile to ensure we are listening, respecting, and developing truly collaborative outcomes.

Our portfolio includes culture infused playgrounds, habitat restoration based on cultural ecology, Songlines tourism product, cultural immersion tourist product, public arboretum, a cultural heritage precinct and even a first nations surf club.

12 Years of Commitment

Providing Community Leadership to Create a New Clubhouse

From a dream in 2011 to reality in 2023, Anembo provided project leadership to create this amazing home for the surfing community. Now in 2026, Tim has continued that commitment as the Chair of this successful facility - marking a 15 year dedication!

The WindanSea Clubhouse sits at the legendary ‘Ann Street’ surf break on State Government environmental reserve. It stands as a testament to what unwavering belief and a never-say-die attitude can achieve.

Opposed by Council, taken to P&E Court by aggrieved residents, 800K funded out of the pockets of local business and individuals and built during the COVID crisis.

The facility is purpose built for high performance surfing skills development, club meetings and rental for like minded community groups,

Personally and professionally this is ‘Timbo from Anembo’s’ finest community achievement.
