Our design process began by setting clear project goals and conducting on-site workshops with the owners to develop the concept design and construction details.
The construction phase brought in renowned Landscape Contractors ‘Living Style’ who brought their expertise and magic to the project.
The lifestyle dividend of this renovation is priceless; however, should the owners feel the urge to sell and hit the road, the new landscapes have significantly increased the properties value.
For owners Lawrence and Sandy we met the project goals - a Win Win!
Crafty Garden
Beachside house for fun family gatherings and crafting
This was a ‘hands on’ collaboration with owners Pete and Jo, spanning from concept sketches and detailed plans through to owner builder construction.
With a small footprint to work with, the design reflects the importance of the revealed garden, useful nooks, food garden, crafting workshop space and story garden. The ‘borrowed landscape’ design was creatively followed, incorporating and integrating with the neighbourhood.
With regular and extended visits of various generations of family, robust materials and plants were paramount and the result still looks excellent today!
Genus Loci Zen Fusion
Zen garden storytelling at the family’s happy holiday home.
A small, once-neglected courtyard at this family holiday home has been transformed into a Zen garden, designed to mirror the residence within its coastal landscape.
A traditional imported Japanese lantern is used as as the metaphor for the home itself, while the hand hewn granite water bowl to represent the health and wealth of family values.
The grasses, gravels and conifers are laid out as an ode to the Dicky Beach surf, rocks, sands, and dunes, as well as the signature Norfolk Pines that this home is perched above.
