Design Rationale
Incorporated a defunct macadamia orchard and golf course into a residential estate, guest house and entertainment pavilion. The late revered landscape architect Thomas Church’s classic ‘California Style’ form spatial design techniques were utilized for the landscape master plan and subsequent design.

The existing kidney shaped pool and surrounds were developed into curvilinear and relaxed backyard spaces for living and entertaining {-{Break}-}featuring a new fire pit. Backyard spaces transition seamlessly through a series of outdoor rooms to the formally designed, rectilinear front yard spaces. Front yard ‘landscaped’ rooms retained orchard trees and their respective grid pattern. Highlighted by columns and an urn courtyard, the entry drive moves sequentially through an alleé of eucalyptus trees and flowering Jacarandas and Poincianas.

Project landscape elements provide unity, harmony, scale, simplicity and balance, seamlessly marrying two opposite design principles to create outdoor rooms and living spaces for the whole of the estate.
